My name is Marie Cook and this is my 10th year teaching.  I have been a Teasley Tiger for the past 6 years.  Before coming to Teasley to team-teach with Mrs. Bates, I taught 3rd and 1st grades in Macon, Georgia.  After graduating from Mercer University in Macon with my teaching degree, I attended Georgia College & State University.  There, I received a Masters and Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. 

I grew up in a small town north of Rome, Georgia (Armuchee).  I love visiting my family there.  My husband, David, and I have two daughters -Ava and Addie.  My oldest daughter, Ava, will be a Kindergartner this year at Teasley!  I am so excited that she will be a part of this wonderful school.

 I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and traveling.  I love working with children and seeing the excitement on their faces as they learn new things. 

About Mrs. Bates

 My name is Yvonne Bates and I have been teaching for 10 years.  I am originally from Atlanta and graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.  Soon after graduation, I got married and moved to Macon, GA to teach while my husband attended law school. In Macon, I taught 2nd grade for two years and then moved down to 1st grade.  My third year in Macon was when I met and taught with Mrs. Cook.  After 3 years in Macon, my husband and I moved back to Atlanta and I was hired to work at Teasley as a 1st grade teacher.  My second year at Teasley was when I was approached about a team teaching position.  I was excited about team teaching especially since I was able to teach with Mrs. Cook again.  We have team-taught for 5 years now. We are so excited about being able to team teach again thi s year. 

 

Some other interesting things you may want to know about me: I grew up in Lithia Springs, GA near Douglasville and attended a small private school where I graduated in a class of 4.  I have one sibling, a sister who is 3 years younger than me.  I do not have any children, but do have a dog named Izzy who is like my child.  I love to cook!  I also enjoy home decorating for myself and friends.  When I am not teaching, you can find me curled up with a good book, watching my favorite tv shows, or spending time with my family and friends.  I am also working on my masters in Instructional Technology for education.  I have one more year before I finish.  I would love to be able to do some more traveling.  My most recent trips have been to Las Vegas, Cancun, and Jamaica.
