Policies for Teasley P.E. 2011 - 2012

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Teasley Elementary Physical Education! With your encouragement, your child will be part of many exciting and rewarding learning experiences.

Class Schedule

All students will have two Physical Education classes per week. Each class will last for forty-five minutes.

Prepared Means Properly Dressed

Dress Attire for participation in Physical Education activities must allow for safe play, freedom of movement and must not damage equipment. Students should come to class with socks, tennis shoes, shorts or pants. If girls wear a dress, shorts are recommended underneath. T-shirts must be appropriate for use at school. Any student who is not dressed for Physical Education, will not participate in that class due to safety reasons.

Grading Policy

The Physical Education grade is determined by:

* Participation - All students in Cobb County are required to participate in all scheduled Physical Education classes.

* Teacher observation, skill and written tests, completion of homework assignments and extra credit opportunities.

* Sportsmanship - The ability to play fairly with others, to display good character when winning or losing.

Teamwork

In order to get the most benefit and enjoyment from Physical Education classes, as well as insure a safe environment, students must behave in ways that are consistent with the rules, listed below:

1. Respect others.

2. Take care of all equipment.

3. Follow directions, do your best and have fun.

4. Gum, candy and food are not allowed in the Gym.

5. Stop, look and listen on signal: whistle or voice command.

Excuses From Participation

A written excuse signed by a parent will be required if a student cannot participate. Students who are unable to participate for a long period of time must have a Doctor’s excuse. If there are any special medical or health situations that might affect a student’s physical activity, please write a note explaining the condition.

Please contact me if you have a question or concern.

Sincerely, Coach Mainor
