In our August Counseling lessons in Kindergarten and First Grade, we're learning about good manners. The students are doing very well! Here are some of the questions and answers we have discussed:
- What is the polite response to "Thank you"? (Answer: "You're welcome")
- If you have to sneeze or cough, what do you do? (Answer: Sneeze or cough into your elbow so that you do not spread germs)
- What should you do before entering someone's room? (Answer: Knock and wait until you are asked to come in)
- Is it polite to lick your hands and fingers when you are eating? (Answer: No. Use a napkin to wipe your hands and fingers) BONUS question: Where should your napkin be when you're sitting at the table? Answer: In your lap
- If you accidentally bump into someone, what is the polite thing to say? (Answer: "Excuse me" or "I'm sorry")
- What should you say when you finish your meal and would like to leave the table? (Answer: "May I please be excused?")
- How should someone respond to the question, "How are you?" (Answer: "Fine, thank you. How are you?") **This is Ms. Strother's personal favorite!**
