Many folks think that once school is out that things move at a slow pace for those of us who work over the summer. I can assure you that the place has been jumping since the last day of school. The construction crew has been hard at work on building the new bus entrance and beginning the alternations to the front parking lots. It was hard to see so many beautiful trees cut down, but it was wonderful to see the portables moved to the back of the school.
This has been an end of the school year that brought many personnel changes. As most of you know Mrs. Sandra McClelland, our gifted teacher, retired. Ms. Sandie Shockley, a second grade teacher at Teasley, will be her very capable replacement. During the very last days of school Ms. Gerri Riddle, the school secretary for many years, retired in order to take care of her beautiful granddaughter, Rowyn. I am working hard to find a secretary to replace her. Then during post-planning, Ms. Melissa Tulman made the decision to retire. Her creativity and generous heart will be sorely missed. Fortunately, I was able to hire a wonderful new art teacher, Ms. Christin Carpenter, to fill those artistic shoes.
During the last month of school we had staff members who lost their positions due to serious budget issues. There are three reassigness coming to Teasley Town and I'm happy to announce that I was able to re-hire most of our other staff members back. Needless to say, I have been busy.
I will try to keep you posted as things develop. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacation. Make sure your children are reading every day.
