Please remember to dress students in their green class Tiger shirts for Field Day on Friday.
Also, remember that nothing will be sent home with students Friday afternoon, so please do not send lunches or snacks in containers that cannot be thrown away.
There are still a few registration and report envelopes (self-addressed and stamped) that have not been returned. Please send those in by Thursday morning.
Field Day/Maui Monday: Monday, May 18
Fashion for the day can include brightly colored shirts and shorts, shady hats and sunglasses, leis, and tennis shoes. Good snack choices for the day might include fresh pineapple chunks, kiwi, papaya, banana, or strawberries.
Tic-Tac-Toe Tuesday -- Kick back and relax with a friendly game. Students may bring a favorite strategy/board game. (i.e. checkers, chess, Scrabble or Scrabble Jr.) If you send a game, please make sure the owner's name is clearly marked on it and consider size and number of pieces that could get lost. On this day, students may bring snacks that include chips, cookies, fruit rolls, or poptarts. Please do not send gooey/sticky snacks.
Wake-up Wednesday--It won't be long before we are sleeping in and lounging around in PJs a little longer. Students can get a sneak preview of lazy summer days and wear their comfy jammies to school. Bring a pillow and a favorite book (with your name inside) so you can curl up and read.
Final Friday -- Come as you are; do not bring a thing. On our last day, please do not bring backpacks, lunchboxes, folders, books, toys, or anything that might be forgotten at the end of a busy day. You won't be back on Monday to get it. All you will need is your brightest smile and maybe a warm hug. Remember to wear sunscreen for Field Day!

Congratulations to last month's amazing Top Five Readers: Adam, Khari, Maddy, Daniel, and Anani!
The wonderful Extra Efforts Readers include: Lee, Tatianya, Vivian, and Brent. Thanks for your hard work!
April/May "S.T.A.R.s" Since Accelerated Reader quizzes will be tallied as of May 8, and tests taken after that date will not be counted for the year, the STARs count which began in April will continue until the 8th.
Tuesday, April 21: Reading Wednesday, April 22: Language Arts Thursday, April 23: Mathematics Tardy students will not be allowed to enter the classroom while the tests are being administered, but will have to make up missed portions with another teacher.
The classroom temperatures during the test may rise and fall as the air conditioner blows cold, then stops. Please dress children in layers so that they can adjust as they need to during the test.
Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep on nights before the tests; eats a healthy breakfast on those mornings, but doesn't fill up on liquids; and is ready to be alert, but not stressed about the tests.
We are looking forward to our trip to the Yellow River Game Ranch on Friday, May 1. If you have not sent in your child's envelope, please remember to send it no later than April 24. Students who do not have a signed permission form will not be able to attend with the class. We must also have adequate funds to be able to make this trip.
Students and chaperones need to be dressed for walking on dirt trails. Comfortable layers and tennis shoes are a good idea for the trip. Students must wear their class t-shirts so that chaperones can easily keep up with students from our class at the ranch.
Remember that lunches brought from home should be packed in completely disposable containers. Everything will be thrown away after lunch.
Students can bring food for the animals... "such as carrots, apples, celery or other vegetables, peanuts, crackers or unsweetened cereal. No breads or marshmallows are allowed. Please keep your group together and stay on the trail. Do not throw food at the animals or run along the trail." http://www.yellowrivergameranch.com/groups.htm
Thank you to our chaperone volunteers! They are the parents of: Casey, Eva, Daniel, Adam, and Sam.
