Don't forget that this is Teasley's night at Sparkles, from 6:00 to 9:00.
Snack Reminder: We have a late lunch - 12:26 - and hungry tummies much earlier than that time. Please remember to send a HEALTHY snack for your child each day. Children will be asked to put away cookies, candy, toaster pastries, juicy/sticky fruits, and other similar items that could damage carpets or class materials. Here are some suggested snacks:
Friday is the 100th day of school. We do not have a special assignment for this day, although we will have 100th Day activities in the classroom. Your child is welcome to bring a '100 snack' if you choose, but he/she should be able to explain how it is connected to the 100th Day.
Our class morning for selling Chick-Fil-A is next Friday, February 3. Please remember to add this to your calendar. Volunteers: your help selling biscuits will be appreciated!

Parents - PLEASE remember to RETURN the white signature cards and orange envelopes that were sent home with report cards. We will need those back for future use. It seems like a small thing, but because of expenses, we have received limited amounts and must be able to reuse the cards and envelopes already provided for your students. Thanks for your help!

We plan to go outside for recess on winter days unless it is rainy or dangerously cold. Please make sure your children comes to school with clothes that will keep them prepared for temperature changes that occur in our southern winters; layers work best for going from classroom to playground. Children should bring a warm/heavy coat on days that have temperatures below 50 degrees, not just a sweatshirt jacket or sweater. Any students who are not prepared for the weather will have to sit inside instead of going out with the class. Thank you for your support.

What are the consequences of bullying behavior at Teasley? How do we help the targets of bullying? What can parents do? These questions and many more will be answered next Tuesday evening, January 17, at the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Parent Information Session.
From 5:45 until 6:15 in the cafe, pizza and bottled water will be for sale for approximately $1.00. At 6:15, all children will be escorted to classrooms for bullying prevention-related activities. Younger siblings are welcome! From 6:15 until 7:00, parents will hear a presentation from Cobb County Prevention Intervention member Patti Agatston. Also, administrators and staff members will talk about what we are doing at Teasley to deal with bullying. (Information about the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program here.)
More than 50 families already have sent in their RSVPs for next Tuesday. It's not too late! If you plan to attend, email Teasley counselor Kate Strother (kathryn.strother@cobbk12.org) by Friday, January 13. Please indicate if your child(ren) will be with you.

Great News from Ms. Stanton
Our students are doing an outstanding job in the First In Math® Online Program. So much so, their efforts have earned our school the FIM “Family Link” feature.
Now our first through fifth grade students can give a family member a FIM User ID of their own. So a mom, dad, sibling or friend can log on to the website to enjoy playing FIM’s engaging content, while they refresh, and learn math skills, too. Student and family member scores are combined for a Family Link total score, providing a great way for students and families to encourage each other on to greater mathematics achievement.
To use the Family Link feature:
1. Student logs on to the First In Math site with her User ID/Password. The student home page will display Family Link information on the lower, right portion of the page, in the player information column.
2. The family member User ID will already be displayed. To obtain the family member Password, move your mouse over the words "show password" and the ID will be revealed.
3. The student can write down the User ID and Password to give to family members.
Many in our class have done a great job participating in this fun way to practice Math skills! We have 4 students in the top ten for the grade level at this point. Our current top scorers are: Carter, Samruddhi, Emily, Leila, and Kelby!
Top Readers: Emily, Carter, Christine-Marie, Samruddhi, Kelby, Daniella, Hana, and Trip!

Students should be taking and passing an AR test each week. Those books do not all have to come from our Media Center at school. Your children may have books at home that they are reading that are personal books or books from the public library. To check their AR status, you may go to www.arbookfind.com and look up the book levels. If they are indeed AR books, then your child may bring them to school to take a test on them. They must be books that are read by your child (not to your child). At this point in First Grade, I only want them taking tests on books they have read for themselves.
Remember: Friday, we go on an exploration with Lewis, Clark, and Sacagawea!
Our Field Trip to Campbell High School - Fabulous Fable Factory - will be Tuesday, Nov. 29. Please have your child wear the class t-shirts OVER the standard school attire shirt. Let me know - in writng - if there is a problem with Nov. 29 date change.
Please send a note that explains any absences your child may have on the day that he/she returns to school. With the new Absence Policy, it is very important that we have a way of keeping a record for the times that the absence would be excused. Please do not rely on your child's or a staff member's memory by giving verbal notification. Thank you for your help!
