Math Facts for Friday, 9-11-09

On Sept. 4th we took our first math facts quiz on adding with zero and one.  Next Friday, our quiz will include adding with twos and threes as well as the adding with zeros and ones.  Remember, the sums (the answers) will be between zero and ten.

President to Speak to Students

This Tuesday President Obama will speak to all students in the United States.  He will speak at noon.  Our class usually in route to the playground at that time.  We will watch the address via the computer when we come back from recess.  There has been much talk in the media about this speech.  The White HHouse will release the speech over the long weekend for anyone to read.  You can read the speech for yourself prior to it being delivered at  www.whitehouse.gov/mediaresources and there is a note about the address in your child's folder today.  If you do not wish for your child to view the speech, there is a form at bottom of the note you can sign and return on Tuesday.

First Grade Fund Raiser

We know that all you parents out there are often rushing in the morning to get your child fed, backpack together, and get out the door without taking time to grab breakfast for yourself!  Now you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and help first grade raise money.  The firstFriday of every month, you can purchase a Chick-Fil-A biscuit in the carpool line as you drop your child off at school.  We will be selling them for $2.50, so don't forget to bring your cash.  All money raised will go toward the cost of a first grade field trip!
