Thursday was a great day in our class. We continue to write to get ready for the writing assessment that will be given on March 7th. Today Miss Braswell taught a lesson on persuasive writing.
Tonight is math night at the Vinings Publix from 5:30-7:30.
Homework:
Math - handout from class
Spelling - Test tomorrow and packet due tomorrow
Health - Study the 6 glands and their locations in the body. Test will be given on Tuesday.

Publix Math Night at the Vinings location tomorrow night from 5:30-7:30PM. I hope you all can make it to do some fun math.

Spelling - Packet due on Friday.
Math - Rework the problems missed from last nights homework. Rework the problems missed from Friday's quiz. (Grade didn't go in the grade book this time.)

Personification, alliteration, assonance, hyperbole
Onomatopoeia, metaphor, and simile

It’s called alliteration: that’s what occurs
When you got the same sound at the start of every word
But when you’ve got a vowel sound that keeps sounding the same
That’s a figure called assonance, yeah, that’s its name
It’s what I’m trying to define by providing this example
But I cannot deny that assonance can be a handful

A simile is something that you use to compare
Two unrelated things with an element that’s shared

But it’s only a simile if it uses “like” or “as”
A metaphor is similar, but watch out!

Math Night at Publix this Thursday, February 23rd. Stop by Publix on Cumberland Parkway anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 so your child can participate in a fun math activity with classmates and teachers. The class with the highest participation percentage will receive a class Ice Cream Party from Publix!

TEASLEY'S PURPLE PARTY
Teasley Elementary School's Purple Party will be Friday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. at the Vinings Club. This is the school's largest fundraising event sponsored by The PAWS Foundation. It's open to anyone in the community who wishes to support Teasley. There will be dinner, dancing, and a live & silent auction. Proceeds will go to enhancements in science education. Happy Pre-Valentine's Day!
Tomorrow I plan for us to have a fun day with exchanging valentines and a small snack. Please make sure to include everyone in the class with a card.

Teasley's FIRST Lego League team, The Robot Warriors, is competing for a chance to have their spoiled milk detection device professionally patented. Last year's winners of this competition visited the White House earlier this week where they demonstrated their invention to the President as participants in the 2nd annual White House Science Fair. Today I am sending the note regarding the end of the year field trip to Timber Ridge. Please sign and return so that I know you have read.
I was thinking about having a Black History celebration on Friday, February 24th. If you will be able to send in a "Soul Food" dish let me know. Ms. Gooden's class is also having this celebration. The 4th grade is having their Black History Museum in the hallway that morning. We would go visit the museum then have our celebration around lunch time in the classroom. I have a list of items I thought we could have on Friday. Please send me a note as to what you are willing to send. Greens, fried chicken, corn bread, beans and rice, fried okra, and pie. (My mouth is drooling as I type.)

Happy Friday! I don't know about you but I am glad to be able to sleep in tomorrow!
Today I sent home a letter from Ms. Mansfield regarding the fifth grade field trip. Please sign and return this letter so I know you have seen it.
Your child needs to study for the Science test we are having on Monday and Tuesday. I have attached the study guide for both tests.
